Engagement: The Key Secret to Email Marketing & Sales Copy

Did you hear the news? Just recently, Aweber got SLAPPED by Google algorithms. Why? Because the lack of engagement and open rates of that automatic email responder plummeted. But is it really Awebers fault? Or is it the end users that use that service? Regardless, Google noticed the lack of interests and tanked their reviews. More end users are switching to an alternative carrier such as GET RESPONSE because of the better features and higher opt in and open email rates that are not marked at SPAM.

When marketing a company through email, have an understanding of the technique. Eluding junk mail filters and making sure your messages are actually read are critical tasks, but are there ways to enhance the effectiveness of your communications? This article is the place to be if you want to learn more about email marketing! Always seek permission before sending marketing emails to potential customers. Sending unsolicited emails will quickly have you labeled a spammer. Getting permission to send your messages doesn't have to be hard; offer something valuable to your customers in exchange for the ability to email them, such as a discount, coupon, or other sign-up incentive.

Don't flood subscribers with emails pleading with them to buy something. Your first seven emails are to build your relationship with your subscriber by not selling anything at all. People need time to get to know you and feel as if they can investigate and trust you. They want to feel that they are making the best choice when buying a product or service. Anything else is a spammy-sounding way of writing may cost you higher amount of people unsubscribing. They will know that you only care about selling services and products, you want to have a good relationship with them and be considered a professional. Customers really do notice things like this and will be more likely trust you and your business.

Educate yourself about email marketing using whatever tools necessary. There are a few excellent books I recommend. One in particular is called; "Webcopy that sells" by Marie Veloso. You will find a lot of helpful books or websites, but that one book had inspired me to understand how to start talking to your clients correctly. You can probably find a number of classes or workshops in your neighborhood, so be sure to attend as many as you can. You usually don't want to send emails around major holidays. Your emails may get overlooked since many people aren't around their computers at this time. There are, of course, exceptions. For example, an email about your Black Friday deals.

You can automate your emails with an auto-responder. I use both Aweber and Get-response, however in my personal opinion I feel that Get-response is more user friendly with better options and higher email open rates. Regardless, auto-responders help you strategically plan when your emails will go out to a mass of potential buyers all at once.
This has been proven to be highly beneficial to business owners that can invest a few hours to create a few email series to talk about the quality of their products and their business.

WARNING: People do not like getting tons emails at inconvenient times, especially if it's something that they have to act on quickly. Be considerate by making your offers convenient and easy for people to take advantage of, and you will have more sales than you otherwise would. Consider using text emails instead of graphically intense HTML emails for your campaign. You may be thinking that the graphics will engage your reader more, but it's usually not the case. Many people today have trained themselves to delete emails with lots of imagery, assuming they are spam. As well, those images often trigger spam filters, meaning your message is never received by some people on your email list!

Remember these tips so you can make your marketing campaign the best possible. Use them with any of your current projects, or apply them when you are drafting a new marketing campaign; you will soon achieve the success you have been wanting.
